Summary Configuration Requirements
Before using Managenable® Risk Template Software for the first time, there are 3 simple preliminary configuration steps you must complete.
These 3 configuration steps refer to what Microsoft® Excel needs to use or do:
- Configuration #1: use the correct references.
- Configuration #2: use the proper handling of errors.
- Configuration #3: trust access to the VBA project.
How to complete each configuration step is explained hereafter.
You must complete these steps only once, before opening the workbook.
Those settings must always remain active when using the Risk Template.
A couple of additional notes are also mentioned after these configuration steps.
Configuration #1: Select the Correct References
1) Open a new Excel workbook, or any workbook but preferably not Managenable® Risk Template Software (to avoid unnecessary error messages).
2) Press simultaneously “Alt” and “F11” on your keyboard to open the Editor for “Visual Basic for Applications”.
3) Click in the Menu on “Tools”, and then on “References”:
4) Select the following 5 references in the list (see the picture underneath):
- Visual Basic For Applications
This defines the VBA language. - Microsoft® Excel Object Library
This defines all of the elements of Excel. - Microsoft® Forms 2.0
This defines things like the user form and the controls placed on a form. - Microsoft® Office Object Library
This defines things that are common to all Office® programs such as Command Bars and Command Bar controls. - OLE Automation
This specifies the types for linking and embedding documents and for automation of other applications and the plumbing of the COM system that Excel uses to communicate with the outside world.
5) Click on “Ok”.
Important Note: these References must always be selected when using Managenable® Risk Template Software.
Configuration #2: Select the Proper Handling of Errors

6) Click on “Ok”.
Important Note: this Error Trapping option must always be selected when using Managenable® Risk Template Software.
Configuration #3: Select to Trust Access to the VBA Project Object Model
